A Polo Made With Purpose
Designed to honor the legacy of JAANUU legend Jose Calderon.
There are some people who have an energy that changes the room. Our late teammate Jose Calderon was one of those people. His positivity lifted those around him, making long days feel lighter and reminding us that the work we do matters. Whether he was brainstorming a new idea, offering thoughtful feedback, or cracking a joke at just the right moment, Jose had a way of weaving together passion and play that made everyone feel a little more excited about what we were building together.
While he held the role of Senior Staff Accountant, Jose’s impact was felt across teams—from finance to product to marketing—because he cared deeply about JAANUU’s success. But he was loved for so much more than his work. He was present, curious, and invested in the people around him. His laughter filled our office, and his kindness left a mark that can’t be measured in projects or performance. And of course, we could always count on Jose to ask the kinds of questions no one else would; whether it was about pocket placement, fabric stretch, or if a scrub top really needed that many color options. If a design passed the “Jose test,” it was ready to go.
It’s for all these reasons and more that we chose to honor him by naming a new style after him: the Calderon Polo. A reimagined take on his favorite style, shaped with care—and a few of his signature suggestions. We simply couldn’t resist including a little of Jose in every detail. He believed our scrubs were meant for every setting and loved to share that vision with anyone who would listen. This design reflects his spirit: thoughtful, approachable, and full of life. More than a scrub top, it’s a tribute to someone who inspired us daily, and continues to do so.
He is dearly missed, but his presence lives on in this design, in our memories, and in the impact he made at JAANUU. That spirit extends beyond the office, too—he is survived by his wife, Jeanine, and son, Mateo. To honor his love for his family and support Mateo’s future, 5% of net proceeds from the Calderon Polo will go toward Mateo’s education fund. A GoFundMe has also been established to further support his future, ensuring that Jose’s influence continues to grow in meaningful ways.
The Calderon Polo is just one small way we carry his name forward. His lasting legacy is stitched into the culture of JAANUU and the hearts of everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
